Warming Breakfast Rice Porridge

Researchers from Harvard University have found that skipping breakfast can increase your risk of a heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease. So, the next time you’re tempted to hit the road on empty, stop and fuel up first. You really can’t expect your body and mind to function properly from your last meal the night before until lunchtime!

A perfect way to start the day – warming, nourishing and soothing. How about the traditional rice porridge? A great dish for the entire family, the longer the rice is cooked, the easier it is to digest. Adding warming spices enhances the flavour. Add cooked apple compote or dates to sweeten if you wish.


  • 1 ½ cups cooked brown or red rice
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ¼ cup almond milk
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp raw organic honey


  • Gently warm almond milk and add rice to warm through.
  • Add honey and ghee, stir to combine.
  • Serve in cereal bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon powder.
