Despite various strategies, overweight and obesity problems remain increasingly prevalent worldwide with serious health outcomes. There is a continuous demand for more effective, safe and acceptable therapies for reducing body weight and a lot of people are turning to complementary and alternative therapies. Says 2021 research published in the ‘Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine’, hypnotherapy is a promising therapy used for weight control. According to a study on 120 participants with BMI ranging from 35 to 50 kg/m2, the addition of hypnotherapy to conventional lifestyle modification led to a very small reduction in body weight. However, those practicing self-hypnosis more than once per day showed greater weight loss and improved dietary intake after follow-up for 12 months.
