Have Star Anise Tea!

Star anise has been in use for a few thousand years. A must in any Indian kitchen as a part of garam masala, it has some excellent anti-inflammatory properties. Anise oil has also been used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It assists digestion by inhibiting bacterial fermentation in the stomach and intestines, reduces the production of gas, and reduces bloating. If you have arthritis, Star Anise-Cinnamon Tea could help you:


  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 4-5 pods star anise
  • 1 piece fresh ginger
  • 2 cups of cold water
  • Honey for taste


  • Add to 2 cups of water cinnamon sticks with star anise pods till they start giving off their aroma.
  • Add finely-chopped ginger.
  • Cover and bring to boil. Let it simmer at low heat for 10 minutes after turning down the heat to the lowest.
  • Filter and add a teaspoon of raw honey.
