When Your Fur Baby Begs For Treats

At some point of time, all of us are guilty of surrendering extra food to our beloved fur babies. Afterall, who can resist the request in those puppy eyes? However, begging for food, especially treats, can become a weighty problem for pets. Resist the temptation to feed extra snacks and treats. If your pet is really begging, feed modest amounts of lean meat, carrots or pumpkin, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, apples, unsalted popcorn without oil, and raw bones. When giving treats, make sure you include them in your dog’s total daily calorie intake to balance things out. If your pet is overweight, or requires special food, always speak to your vet about which snacks to give and any lifestyle changes that would help.
