Purple Mangosteen, that has been used to treat obesity by reducing fat accumulation, is low on calories and rich in fibre, making it great for weight loss. Says a 2009 study in the ‘Nutrition Journal’, “People who supplemented their diets with 90ml, 180ml, or 270 ml of Mangosteen juice twice daily tended to have a lower body mass index (BMI) than the control group.” A 2015 research, published in the journal ‘Food & Function’, shows that the fruit’s anti-inflammatory effects play a role in promoting fat metabolism and preventing weight gain.
