High-intensity training or HIT has been shown to be very effective in fat loss, reducing both subcutaneous and abdominal fat. HIT increases the metabolic rate after exercise and burns more calories than cardio exercise like walking – one reason it’s more effective for fat loss. In a 2008 study published in the ‘International Journal of Obesity’, a number of young women was divided into two groups, one performing HIT, and the other doing aerobic exercise. Despite exercising less than half the time as the aerobic exercisers, the HIT group lost over 11% of their body fat while the aerobic group didn’t lose any.
