Anti-inflammatory Digestive Chai

Although the monsoon is a welcoming relief from the scorching summer, the dullness, associated with this season could make one lethargic and prone to illness. The ginger root is a natural remedy for an upset stomach, itchy sore throat and provides a soothing relief to cold and cough. This hot root also displays anti-inflammatory properties, particularly beneficial for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and various other inflammatory conditions that are aggravated at this time of the year.

Monsoon mantra: Sip on herbal teas as often as possible!

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Ginger root, sliced
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon powder or chips
  • ¼ tsp Fennel seeds
  • ¼ tsp Nutmeg,
  • 1 pod Cardamom
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey/ agave nectar
  • Milk (optional)

Method

  1. Bring water to a boil, add the spices and simmer for 30 min stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, add honey and milk to taste.
