According to research that appears in the journal ‘Nutrition Research Reviews’, macadamia nuts boast some of the highest flavonoid levels of all tree nuts. This antioxidant fights inflammation and helps lower cholesterol. In a study published in the journal ‘Mediators of Inflammation’, researchers at the University of São Paulo investigated the effects of macadamia oil supplementation, and found that the monounsaturated fatty acids in macadamia oil helped block inflammatory activity promoted by fatty tissue. In a study by the Noakes Foundation Research Institute, macadamia oil was found to have a more potent anti-inflammatory effect compared to olive oil and coconut oil. Use it in marinades, salad dressings, and baking, as also for stir-frying. You could blend macadamia nuts into smoothies or sprinkle them on salads for added protein and healthy fats.
