Delicious, Healthy Cocoa Oatmeal

Research says that cocoa helps to regulate energy use and metabolism while also increasing feelings of fullness. So, although chocolate is commonly associated with weight gain, cocoa powder may actually help to reduce weight while providing important nutrients. Beta-glucan, the fibre in oats, makes you feel full faster. So, you’ll eat fewer calories overall, helping you meet your weight loss goals.


  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp. ground flax seeds meal
  • 2 cups water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground vanilla bean
  • 1 tbsp. raw honey
  • A dash of cinnamon
  • 2 egg whites


  • In a saucepan over high heat, place the oats and salt. Cover with enough water. Bring to a boil and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • You can keep adding water if necessary as the mixture thickens.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk a little water into the cocoa powder to form a smooth sauce. Add the vanilla to the pan and stir.
  • Turn the heat down to low. Add the egg whites and whisk immediately. Add the flax meal, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
  • Remove from heat, add raw honey and serve immediately.
  • You could add toppings like sliced fruit or a few almonds.
