Soft drinks are a major problem in causing childhood obesity because of their high calories, their ready availability, and the ease with which kids can drink large quantities quickly. To deal with soft drinks, help them make their favourite juices at home without the sugar and allow them to make smoothies based on dairy and nut milks as they like. When you can control what goes into them, you can swap unhealthy ingredients for healthy ones. Don’t deny soft drinks completely or the children will crave them. Restrict them to special occasions and to just one glass.
