Research shows that spinach contains compounds called thylakoids, which increase leptin levels, the hormone responsible for the suppression of appetite and increasing satiety. Spinach has a low glycaemic index and high fibre content. It also contains a level of β-ecdysone sterol, which can help reduce body fat as also the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines. According to the American Heart Association spinach contains a host of anti-inflammatory properties to keep you healthy.
