With a mix of soluble fibre and essential fatty acids, flaxseed makes a great addition to your yogurt, smoothie, or salad. A natural appetite suppressant, it will help you stay full for long. Berries, too, are high in fibre content and promote satiety. Oats are a natural appetite suppressant as well.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk, (you can also use almond milk or any other nut milk)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2 tbsp. ground flaxseed powder
- 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 cup mix of fresh blueberries, sliced strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries
- 2 tbsp. roughly chopped almonds and/or walnuts
- 1 tbsp. maple syrup or honey
Method
- In a small saucepan, bring milk and water to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in oats, flaxseed, and salt. Cook for 6-7 minutes, uncovered, or until the oats are tender and almost all of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir frequently.
- Remove from heat, cover, and let the oatmeal rest for a few minutes before serving. Stir in a little milk for desired consistency.
- Divide between two serving bowls. Top with berries, chopped nuts and maple syrup. Serve immediately.
