Carrots make great treats for a dog who find it difficult to lose weight. They are low in calories and most dogs enjoy their great crunch. Use baby carrots if possible. Sometimes, large carrots may become a choking hazard. Carrots are high in soluble fibre. Be cautious when adding them to your pet’s diet. Start slow or they may cause intestinal upset. Always provide plenty of fresh drinking water to assist the fibre through the digestive system. You can also add grated carrots on top of their food for an extra boost of flavour and nutrition.
