Says a 2020 study from the Anglia Ruskin University, UK, published in ‘The Journal of Nutrition’, women who drink two or three cups of coffee a day have 2.8% lower total body and abdominal fat than those who drink less. Coffee contains caffeine and other stimulant compounds which makes it a natural fat burner because it increases metabolism. Also, when the nervous system is stimulated, adrenaline levels go up. Your tissues then break down fat to release energy. If you use up this energy, you lose weight. Coffee may act as an appetite suppressant as well. Says the abovementioned study, it could be that coffee, or its effective ingredients, could be integrated into a healthy diet strategy to reduce obesity.
