Often, children get too engrossed in their activities to remember to drink enough water. Keeping well hydrated is vital for maintaining energy levels and helping to reduce hunger pangs that might make them reach for unhealthy, processed foods like cookies and doughnuts. And by the time they are thirsty, they are already slightly dehydrated. So, it’s important to keep ahead of the game. Offer them flavoured water or home-made drinks as something interesting to sip on before their next meal. Add very thin slices of cucumber, mint, quartered strawberries, lemon, mango, orange or their favourite fruits.
You could even try combining two-three fruits together. The longer you can leave the water to steep in the fridge, the more flavour it will acquire.
