Something as simple as a cup of coffee with milk can have an anti-inflammatory effect, suggests a study from the University of Copenhagen. Researchers have found that a combination of proteins and antioxidants doubles the anti-inflammatory properties in immune cells. Previous studies by the researchers have shown that polyphenols bind to proteins in milk. Coffee beans are filled with polyphenols, while milk is rich in proteins. The reaction between polyphenols and proteins also happens in coffee with milk, and yields potentially beneficial anti-inflammatory effect.
